While you are sitting at a desk, the best position for your head, neck and upper body is to be facing your work. If you sit in a twisted posture or look down at your work your muscles become tense and sore. The most effective arrangement of reference documents and screen is to have them as close together as possible.

  • Use a document holder. Make sure it is stable and big enough for the documents you use.
  • A good place for documents is just below your screen (angled up towards you).
  • If this isn't possible use the following layouts:
  • If you look mostly at the screen while you are working, have the screen in front of you with your documents just to one side.
  • If you look mostly at your documents while you are working, have these in front of you with your screen just to one side.
