There are two main eye related problems which can occur when using computers in offices, dry/itchy eyes, and tired eyes.

This assessment is for DRY/ITCHY eyes, for an assessment of tired eyes, please follow this link. Each box is a NO answer.

1.) Is the layout of the desktop equipment satisfactory?
2.) Is the chair comfortable?
3.) Is the top of the visible area of the screen at eye height when you are sitting upright?
4.) Is the monitor at a suitable distance from your eyes (20"-26")?
5.) Is the information on the screen well defined and easy to read?
6.) Is the image stable and flicker free?
7.) Is the screen free from glare and reflections?
8.) Can all of your tasks be completed without the need to refer to paper documents?
9.) If so, does the duration of these tasks mean you don't need a document holder (e.g. 20 minute stints)?
10.) Can documents be reviewed with the head in a balanced posture?
11.) If no, has a document holder provided?
12.) If yes, is the document holder of a suitable size and position?
13.) Does the layout of the immediate work area allow the job to be done in a correct posture?
14.) Is the temperature comfortable for you, most of the time?
15.) Is humidity normally comfortable for your eyes and sinuses?
16.) Is the work area free from draughts?
17.) Have you been shown how to adopt good posture at the workstation?
18.) Have you received information on how to avoid visual fatigue?
19.) Have you been made aware of ways to detect and avoid stress at work?
20.) Have you received information about the provision of eyesight tests and corrective lenses?
21.) Have you been informed about taking breaks and changes of work activities?
22.) Have you had training and information in how to adjust your workstation?
23.) Is your workstation tidy and cleaned regularly?
24.) Is your equipment cleaned regularly?
